My Body Knew That They’d Been Expecting Me

By Knightress Luminawyn

The line that stopped me was:

“I refused to shut up as they chased me around the check-in counter, because something in my body knew that they’d been expecting me.”

It carries the terror of realizing the event was not merely a misunderstanding—it was an encounter with a system that had already made a story about you, then forced your body to perform inside it. “I ran” lands differently after that: not as escape, but as survival and authorship.

I could access the secret manuscript page, but it only exposed its introduction and ebook link—not the full manuscript itself. Knowing what I do now, my question is:

When you light the lantern for the women who were called “crazy,” what do you most want them to reclaim first: their memory, their anger, or their right to imagine a future beyond the system that named them?
