The line that stopped me was: “The card was valid—but I wasn’t.” It holds the whole architecture of the story—the fact that the evidence, the question, and the person asking could all be legitimate, yet the system could still manufacture her illegitimacy.
And knowing what you built from that wreckage, my question is: When you made the WampusVerse into the witness they refused to be, were you building a home where no one could ever be erased again—or a lantern bright enough that, someday, you might finally stop having to prove you were telling the truth?
